Laptop Sleeve vs Briefcase: Compare SENLASI A17, A18 & A20

06 Oct 2026

If your laptop travels inside a backpack, start with Shield-A18. If you carry it by hand between the car, office and meetings, start with Shield-A17 and its retractable handle. If you want the laptop and work accessories in one shoulder bag, start with Carry-A20. Then select the device version: the series name describes the design, while the separate product page determines the size.

This comparison uses SENLASI product specifications checked on September 29, 2026. Recommendations are based on carrying features and listed dimensions, not a hands-on packing or protection test.

A17 and A18 have the same published reference dimensions for each corresponding size. There is no basis here for claiming one holds a larger laptop or provides better protection. Choose A17 for its retractable handle and front-pocket layout; choose A18 when you prefer its sleeve design. Choose A20 when the shoulder strap and roomier format solve a real carrying need.

Pick the device version, not just the series

The links below go to separate size-specific products. On those pages, selecting Black or Gray changes the color; it does not change a 14-inch product into a 15-inch one. Read the full product title before adding it to your cart.

How to use these numbers: the tables retain the product pages’ measurement labels. They are not confirmed usable internal laptop-compartment dimensions, and subtracting your laptop measurements from them would not establish free space. A screen-size label also does not identify a model year. For a hard-shell case, Surface model or thicker Windows laptop, give SENLASI the exact model and closed-device width, depth and thickness before ordering.

For the measuring steps and the difference between laptop size and bag size, use our laptop sleeve sizing guide. A larger bag reference is not a reason to put a 16-inch computer into a product labeled for 15-inch MacBook Air / Pro.

Three everyday setups and what we would choose

1. Backpack commute with a 14-inch MacBook Pro

Start with the 14-inch Shield-A18 if your backpack already carries the charger, lunch and other daily items. Its sleeve format gives the laptop its own enclosure and a handle for the short move from your backpack to a meeting. Keep the charger in the backpack’s accessory compartment, rather than building a lump against the laptop.

Switch to A17 if you frequently leave the backpack behind and prefer a retractable handle. If your backpack’s laptop slot is already close-fitting, confirm the sleeve’s outside dimensions before planning to nest it there.

2. Car-to-office carry with a 15-inch MacBook Air

Start with the 15-inch Shield-A17 when the computer and a small accessory kit cover the day. The retractable handle suits repeated short hand carries, while the front pocket keeps a cable or adapter accessible. Put flat items against the pocket’s flat side and keep bulky plugs away from pressure points on the laptop lid.

If a large charger, mouse, notebook and documents always travel together, compare the 15-inch A20 instead. The A17 listing names several pocket uses; it does not establish that every combination fits simultaneously.

3. Public-transport commute with a 14-inch MacBook Pro and work kit

Start with the 14-inch Carry-A20 when you want shoulder carry and space for work accessories. Choose the 15-inch version for the laptop family listed above; use the separate 17.3-inch page as the starting point for a larger laptop. Do not buy the biggest version merely to gain accessory space if the laptop will move around inside it.

A20 is the format recommendation for this setup, not a tested packing promise. A bulky gaming power supply or a second device needs a separate compartment-size check. If your load also includes gym clothes, a bottle and a heavy lunch box, compare a backpack rather than forcing the full load into a laptop briefcase.

Questions that change the choice

Does a sleeve always need to go inside another bag?

No. Both A17 and A18 have a carry handle, so either can cover a short hand carry. An existing backpack makes the sleeve format more useful because the larger bag can take the bulky accessories. For hands-free shoulder carry, A20 is the documented option in this comparison.

Can a 13-inch sleeve fit every 13-inch laptop?

No. Screen diagonal does not specify the chassis or thickness, and the listed MacBook families do not confirm every generation or attached hard case. Choose the matching device page first, then resolve any model or case uncertainty using actual device dimensions.

Which offers better protection?

The listings describe padding, soft lining or protective construction, but they do not supply a comparable test result that ranks these three designs. Keep the laptop compartment free of hard accessories and avoid overpacking. Treat splash-resistant fabric as help with light moisture, not permission to expose the whole bag to prolonged heavy rain.

Your ordering checklist: full laptop model, the correct size-specific product title, your preferred handle or strap, and the accessories you need every day. Those four details give you a more reliable purchase decision than the words sleeve or briefcase alone.
